The application of Steel Seal in 5 steps:
1 - If your engine suddenly overheats while driving (acoustic signal / coolant light comes on), switch the fan and heater to the highest setting and take your foot off the accelerator. The cools the motor in the short term.
2 - Pull the vehicle over safely at the first opportunity and switch off the engine. Allow the overheated engine to cool down for at least 60 minutes.
3 - Carefully open the radiator or expansion tank. If necessary, drain some cooling water. Then fill with the recommended amount* Steel Seal® into the cooling system. Screw the cover tight again (leave it open in the event of overpressure!).
4 - Start the engine and switch the fan and heater to the highest setting. Allow the engine to warm up to full operating temperature while stationary and then run for a further 30 minutes.
CAUTION: If the motor threatens to overheat again during use, switch it off immediately at the first sign. Allow it to cool down for 10-15 minutes and then restart it. Repeat this, if necessary, until the engine has run at operating temperature for a total of 30 minutes.
5 - Then switch off the engine and allow it to cool down for at least 2 hours before continuing your journey. Ride in the lower speed range until you reach your destination and then allow the engine to cool down completely (6 hours or longer).

In the meantime I have used Steel Seal on a VW T5 according to the instructions and lo and behold, no more CO2 in the coolant!

I can only recommend Steel Seal.

It worked for me too. The head gasket was leaking, it was overheating and pressing into the cooling system. I filled in the agent as described and drove home from Spain with the caravan on the hook without any problems. At home, I drove on for months without overheating until I decided to repair it completely. Steel Seal is my first choice, not just as an emergency solution when I'm on vacation.
Saved me a lot of trouble and money. Always with me on my off-road tours from now on!
