Make sure the engine is cold and the coolant is clean.

Remove the radiator cap, pour in the recommended amount of Steel Seal®, and tighten the cap securely.
Tip: If there is no radiator cap, pour Steel Seal® directly into the expansion tank*.

Turn on the heater & fan to the highest setting. Start the engine and run it until it reaches full operating temperature & for an additional 30 minutes let it idle. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down for at least 6 hours.

WARNING: Monitor the engine temperature on the dashboard. If there is a risk of overheating, turn off the engine immediately and allow it to cool down!

Top up with coolant if necessary. Leave Steel Seal® in the system & drive the vehicle as usual.

RECOMMENDED DOSAGE:
ENGINE SIZE (CC) BOTTLES
1. up to 2.4 liters (2,400cc) 1
2. 2.4 to 4.0 liters 2
3. over 4.0 liters (4,000cc) 3

*Note: Before introducing Steel Seal® via the expansion tank, make sure to empty it so that Steel Seal® can enter the cooling circuit. Then continue with step -2-.

3 tips for best results!

A blown head gasket is usually the result of repeated overheating. The cause should be rectified before using Steel Seal®.

Important note: Steel Seal® is is not compatible with all coolants!

Steel Seal® is not compatible with silicate-containing "long-term"/"long-life" coolants (e.g. G12evo, Glysantin G65, Eurolub D-30 D-40 D-48 D-65)

Recommended: Use Steel Seal® with pure water or silicate-free coolant (max. 25% antifreeze), or a min. 3:1 water-antifreeze mixture.

In case of contamination or previous use of additives in the cooling system rinse with water several times in advance. If used with pure water: Steel Seal® can be drained and the system refilled with any approved coolant after the application.

Additional instructions in case of backpressure

The following signs are typical of excess or compression pressure in the cooling system (due to combustion gases):

- Hard and/or inflated cooling water hoses

- Strong back pressure when opening the expansion tank

- Bubbles forming in the cooling water when the engine is running

Method 1 (in case of high back pressure in the cooling system)

Identify the cylinder that causes back pressure:

Remove spark plugs one after the other & start engine (remove max. one plug!). Once the bubbles stop forming, the affected cylinder has been found.

A.) Cylinder found?

Start at step 1 with the spark plug &, if possible, the injection line removed to avoid unburned fuel. After use, replace the spark plug & injection line.

B.) No clear cylinder, several affected or common rail injection?

Proceed to method 2!

Method 2 (with slightly excessive pressure in the cooling system)

Engine cold. Empty the expansion tank until the cooling water is just visible. Fill in Steel Seal® & leave cap open to prevent pressure build-up. If possible, pour directly into the radiator & leave the radiator cap open.

Bonus tips after use:

After complete cool down, drive the vehicle for 30-40 minutes with low rev. Then allow the engine to cool down again - Steel Seal® can continue to work. It remains in the system for 2-3 drives and can then be drained, but does not have to be. After that, any approved coolant can be used. In the case of undiluted or highly concentrated Longlife coolant, remove Steel Seal® beforehand.

Tip: Check coolant levels after the first 100 km for any hint of further loss of coolant.

Guarantee! If symptoms persist after 1 week of daily use (e.g. loss of cooling water), please contact us! We will check whether a second application makes sense - until you are satisfied.

Instructions for flushing the cooling system

Other additives or impurities in the coolant? Flush cooling system with fresh water - without detergent!

Flush & bleed cooling system

Flush the cooling system:

- Park the vehicle safely, engine cold, ignition off, apply the handbrake.

- Remove the lower radiator hose and drain the coolant completely (dispose of in an environmentally friendly manner!).

- Insert the water hose into the radiator or expansion tank opening and rinse for a few minutes at low pressure (no high water pressure!).

- Reattach the radiator hose & fill the cooling system with fresh coolant.

Venting:

- Loosen bleed screw(s), fill in coolant until liquid escapes, then close screw(s).

- Leave the radiator/expansion tank open, turn heating to the highest setting and the fan to the lowest level.

- Start the engine & rev it briefly to 3,000-4,000 rpm several times.

- Switch off the engine & close the radiator/expansion tank cap.

Concentrated cooler rinse from PowerMaxed 325ml

If there are traces of engine oil, sludge or corrosion residues (brown-reddish) in the cooling system, for example because you have been driving with only water in the cooling system for a while, we recommend thoroughly cleaning the cooling system before use, e.g. with the Concentrated radiator flush 325ml from PowerMaxed.
